The K2 Black Panther is a next generation South Korean main battle tank designed by the South Korean Agency for Defense Development and manufactured by Hyundai Rotem. Developed as a modern main battle tank that will replace most of the remaining M48 Patton tanks and complement the K1 series of main battle tanks currently fielded by the South Korean military. The P'okp'ung-ho or spelled Pokpung-ho is a North Korean main battle tank developed in the 1990's. The tank may incorporate technology found in the T-62, T-72, and Ch'onma-ho MBTs. EPISODE #38 - THE RHEINMETALL GROSSTRAKTOR AND NAMING TANKS!
Tuesday Mar 17, 2020
Tuesday Mar 17, 2020
Welcome to the 38th Episode of The Two Tankers and a Cat Podcast! The very roots of the Neubaufahrzeug (literally: “New Construction Vehicle”) are connected to the arrival of Hitler as the new head of state, and the desire to have, as quickly as possible, a suitable heavy tank, both for the army needs and for propaganda purposes. It had to be a symbol of the renewal of the German Army and was conceived in quite a hurry. The Rheinmetall Grosstraktor was the result of this new tank for Germany. What goes into tankers nicknaming their tanks on the battlefield? We talk about painting the nicknames of tanks on the barrels, and the process of nicknaming tanks.

Welcome to the 37th Episode of The Two Tankers And a Cat Podcast! The mittlere Schützenpanzerwagen (Sd Kfz 251/1) was designed to transport Panzer-Grenadiere (armored infantry) into battle alongside tanks. Using a half-tracked vehicle, it was possible to drive in terrain where trucks could not go, while its armor offered some protection against small arms fire and scrapnel.
It was allowed for the mittlere Schützenpanzerwagen to attack with the Panzer-Grenadiere mounted, but did so at great risk. Anti-tank guns, mortars, artillery, hand grenades, fighter-bombers, etc. were all a serious risk for the lightly-armored, open-topped vehicles. Welcome to the 34th Episode of the Two Tankers and a Cat Podcast! Closely related to the SU-85, the SU-100 Soviet Union Tank Destroyer incorporated much of its design, revolving around the new D10 100 mm (3.94 in) antitank gun. The SU-100 arrived in operational units in October 1944 and immediately became popular with Russian crews. During the failed Bay of Pigs Invasion in Cuba, The USS Houston, an American troop and supply vessel, was damaged by several FAR rockets and Castro himself shooting it from his command vehicle the SU-100, its captain then intentionally beached the ship on the western side of the bay.
