Welcome to the 39th Episode of The Two Tankers And A Cat Podcast!  In This Episode We Talk About The Merkava main battle tank and the 1982 Lebanon War!  The Merkava is a main battle tank used by the Israel Defense Forces. The tank began development in 1970, and entered official service in 1979. Four main variants of the tank have been deployed. It was first used extensively in the 1982 Lebanon War.  The 1982 Lebanon War, dubbed Operation Peace for Galilee by the Israeli government, began on 6 June 1982, when the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) invaded southern Lebanon, after repeated attacks and counter-attacks between the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) operating in southern Lebanon and the IDF that had caused civilian casualties on both sides of the border.  If you have any questions or comments, you can email us at twotankersandcat@gmail.com
